I have a dream, a vision that I will share with you. Because now, I have the physical space to start building what I’ve thought about for years. It all starts with a thought!

I have an extra soft spot in my heart for Thoroughbred horses. Especially ones that have raced (OTTBs). I love working with these highly sensitive horses, and can relate well to their dysregulation. Kind of like it takes one to know one! 

Because of their nature and background, OTTBs can take a little extra understanding. If they aren’t paired with someone who has the perspective, experience and leadership style to embrace them where they are, these horses can end up getting kicked out. Sometimes they can end up facing euthanasia, and that breaks my heart.

As I write this, I currently have two of my own such horses, who I love dearly and might not be here if I didn’t say “yes”. I would love to help more of these horses. More than I can caretake myself. This is where my vision truly starts.

I believe that these horses can become (actually already are) fabulous partners for people interested in healing work. Whether the work is for themselves, horses or other people, with an open mind and heart, an OTTB can be an impressive teacher for our Inner Journey. Especially in the area of self-regulation. The OTTBs that may not be ideal for riding can flourish here.

What I intend to do is take in an OTTB that needs a home and take some time to offer the horse energetic rehab. When I get a base understanding of who the horse is and what can best help it then I will turn to the list of people I have been mentoring. The next step involves a bit of match making. 

The right person and the OTTB will enter into a learning, healing journey together. I will mentor them until they are ready to graduate and head out and offer their magic as a team. This is my dream. To help more OTTBs and people that want to partner with horses to share their gifts and talents with the world. The name for this program is Fresh Start.
