I will reveal that sometimes the blogs that I post have happened a day or two …. or a few…. previously. I usually journal that day, and then by the time I get it to something understandable it can be a few days later. Anyway, what I’m going to expound on now actually happened the same day that I got the incredible experience of seeing a bald eagle flying free in the sky.

After my amazing experience with Sunshine, I got Petey from the field, and was bringing him out and around to the outdoor arena. As I came up to the small slope behind the arena, I looked up and saw a deer ahead of us. Then, over to the left I saw seven more. It was a pretty magical moment. My horse was on high alert, and he stood still next to me.

In the round pen, it was obvious that Petey has improved! His body was held and used very differently from the last time I had him in there. Not to mention, that he was so much more connected to me right off the bat. Even with the excitement of bounding deer.

Sunshine had been lying down again in the field when I brought Petey past and out. He rose to his feet and came trotting over to the fence line. All the time that Petey and I were in the arena, in the round pen, he stood there watching.

It struck me, as Sunshine was watching me, that this was a very familiar feeling. One of those deja vu moments. A few barns ago, when I had my horse Bob, he would position himself wherever I was teaching lessons, and watch me. Bob and Sunshine are marked incredibly similarly. The biggest difference in their color and markings, is that sunshine has white on his fight hind feet where Bob did not. Same color, same star, same white front feet. It was almost as if Bob is still with me and watching.

After combing Petey in the round pen, I brought him out and around past the hidden promise horses again. Missy and Jewel came tearing up to the fence and my big brown horse stayed right by my side. The only evidence he gave that he noticed this was that his tail was held high and his head raised a little. Otherwise, he stayed right with me. The emerging incredible healing horse stayed right with me. What an honor.

Intrigued by seeing the deer the same day that the eagle circled Petey and I, I looked deer up. Here are some things I found: When you have the deer as a spirit animal, you are highly sensitive and have a strong intuition. By affinity with this animal, you have the power to deal with challenges with grace. You master the art of being both determined and gentle in your approach. The deer totem wisdom imparts those with a special connection with this animal with the ability to be vigilant, move quickly, and trust their instincts to get out the trickiest situations. What a great sign to witness with Petey! I think it speaks of our partnership. And, when I looked up the number 8 from something called the 20 count, it corresponded to the book of life. There are no coincidences! I am going to classify today as a pretty remarkable one for me and my horses.
